Southern Belle Farm, a 330-acre working farm just south of Atlanta, Georgia has had to carefully protect their tender vegetation from the recent cold snaps, and now they are seeing the fruits of their labor — literally. Thankfully the warm sunshine is ripening the beautiful 5-acre strawberry crop, and the farm is now open for strawberry picking!
The gate has officially opened for their spring season including the strawberry patch, which is now open to the public for picking. According to Jake Carter, fifth generation farmer, “We are excited that the 2016 strawberry season is now underway. We always look forward to seeing all of our loyal customers who choose to make Southern Belle Farm part of their yearly tradition. We are also excited to announce the opening of our new Farm Market located here on the farm, which is slated to open sometime late April. In the market guests will be able to purchase a wide variety of jams, jellies, and locally grown produce as well as an assortment of other farm products. Make plans to come out this spring to see all of the new changes that are happening here at the farm.” invites Jake.
The farm will open to the public where folks can come and hand-pick fresh strawberries right from the patch. The strawberries have just started to ripen, and with the warmer temps they should continue to ripen beautifully. On the weekends, the farm has other activities such as Belle’s animal barn, jumping pillow, cow train and hayride.
