We hope your Summer has been filled with lots of fun and memories! For those of you who visited the farm to pick Strawberries and Blackberries with your family – we know you made some yummy memories while here picking berries!

Now parents, kids and teachers all over Georgia are getting ready for Back to School time! Parents are eagerly searching for all those school supplies to satisfy the lists, kids are filling in their last Summer days with fun times with friends (don’t forget those Summer reading assignments!!), and teachers….whew…boy are they busy!  Teachers have a list a mile long in order to be ready for the first day of school….organize classroom, make lesson plans, decorate bulletin boards, teacher meetings, choose a field trip destination…and the list goes on!

Back to School here at Southern Belle Farm is a busy time for us too! We are making preparation here on the farm getting our barnyard animals on their best behavior to host school groups by getting out our latest farm fun activities and games, growing our crops and getting ready for educate many kids about agriculture and farming!  Our Fall Field Trips will begin September 21st and will continue thru early November. We just love this time we get to share and have fun with school kids on the farm!

If your class has not yet planned their field trip for the 2010-11 school year, suggest Southern Belle Farm as a Spring or Fall destination!  We’re conveniently located in McDonough, Ga – Henry County and offer two field trips per year.  For more information, visit our new website and learn about our School Field Trips.

We also host Spring Field Trips, and those trips include picking fresh Strawberries from the patch.  If you are interested in a Spring Field Trip – those are held mid-April thru May.  We will accept Spring 2011 Field Trip Reservations now as well!

We at Southern Belle Farm are gearing up for our Fall Season, and we look forward to this time each year where school buses (aka cheese wagons) pull up to the farm and unload eager, excited children!  Then our day is filled with fun education on agriculture, farm life, dairy, corn and more!

Fall Field Trips here on the farm are fun for both the kids and us farmers!  We enjoy sharing our farm as a 200-acre classroom with school groups from all over the Atlanta area and state of Georgia!

Fall Field Trips to Southern Belle Farm will be held September 21st – November 5th, 2010. We hope to see your school bus pull up at Southern Belle Farm this Fall!

After just finishing up our berry season, we thought we could get a quick break from the farm.  NOPE!  Time to switch gears to planting and preparing for the Fall Season!  Our gates might be closed, but we’re not laying in the A/C cooling off – believe me!!!

Farmers Jimmy & Jake have been busy planting corn and pumpkins, baling hay etc.  While everyone else has been getting ready for a big wedding reception at the farm this weekend!  Check out the lil’ sprouts of corn already up!

Growing Cotton!

The Georgia mid-90 degree temps in July have been tough to work in and dry conditions don’t help the crops, but God’s given us some afternoon thunderstorms that have been generous to us with rain.  Like today – a hot, humid afternoon with some rain showers.  But we’re grateful for the rain!

The Cotton patch is already mature and surviving the Georgia heat!

Fresh Strawberries!

We cannot wait until Spring time…..know why?  That means its Strawberry Season here at Southern Belle Farm!  We are collecting favorite Strawberry recipes from all of our family, friends and FaceBook Fans so we can put together our ‘Southern Belle Farm Strawberry Recipe Collection‘ to share with all of you!

Here’s what we need you to do – send us your favorite Strawberry recipe to via email, or post it on our FaceBook Southern Belle Farm Fan page.  We will collect them all and share them with you this Spring just in-time for our farm fresh Strawberries!  We want to give you lots of new ways to enjoy our delicious  berries!  Send us your recipes and we will give you all the credit for you tasty Strawberry treat in our recipe collection!

The state of Georgia is being blanketed with white, fluffy snow!  Georgians are enjoying the beautiful winter, scenery and Southern Belle Farm is being coated with big, soft flakes too!   Its a beautiful view looking out over the pastures and fields of our farm and our snow-covered Strawberry patch!
